Cross city Trail - SFO - 18 miles, 2500 elevation

We came to know about this trail through friend's daughter.  Within a week of knowing it we kept the plan ready, mobilized and motivated team for this hike. We completed the Cross City Trail in San Francisco—an unforgettable 18+-mile journey from Candlestick Point, the city's southern edge, all the way to Lands End Point. The trail took us through an incredible variety of neighborhoods, each with its own unique character, beautiful homes, charming backyards, hidden parks, and scenic streets. Along the way, we explored green spaces, admired the colorful Mosaic Steps, paused for a well-earned pizza lunch, and were rewarded with breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean, the Golden Gate Bridge, and San Francisco's dramatic coastline. Every mile seemed to outdo the last, making us realize how much of the city we had never truly experienced despite having been in city several times. The perfect finale was walking past stunning waterfront mansions, some worth over $20 million, with living rooms and backyards overlooking the ocean, Golden Gate bridge—a view most of us can only dream about. I almost signed a blank check :)

What made this adventure truly memorable, though, was the company. 2 of my friends initially convinced they'd only make it halfway before turning back, but the energy, encouragement, and camaraderie of the group kept everyone motivated to push forward. Conversations flowed effortlessly, the miles passed more quickly than expected, and every stop became an opportunity to appreciate the city together. It was a reminder that the right people can transform a long hike into an inspiring shared experience. We didn't just cross San Francisco from south to west—we built memories, challenged ourselves, and discovered that with the right crowd, even an 18-mile hike feels less like an endurance test and more like an unforgettable celebration of the city. It does seem I am prepared for the upcoming Dolamites hike in Aug.

Mt. Diablo Hike 16.4 Miles, 3800 Ft elevation

We group of four completed a challenging hike to the summit of Mt. Diablo from the Regency St trailhead as part of our preparation for our upcoming 10-day hiking adventure in the Dolomites.

The weather couldn't have been better, with clear skies and pleasant temperatures throughout the day. The ascent was steady but right pace, we were able to climb without feeling overly exhausted. The real challenge came during the descent. The trail was extremely dry, covered with loose gravel and small stones, making it very slippery. Every step required careful attention, and we had to slow down significantly to avoid losing our footing. In fact, I slipped and fell once, which reminded me how demanding downhill hiking can be, especially on loose terrain.

Surprisingly, the descent took longer than the climb because of the technical conditions. Reaching the summit was rewarding, and we celebrated with a well-deserved ice cream while enjoying the beautiful views. The hike tested both our endurance and confidence on uneven trails. Overall, it was a great training hike that highlighted our strengths while also showing us the areas we need to improve before taking on the spectacular trails of the Dolomites.
