Lassen Peak Trail- Elevation: 8500 feet at trailhead, 10,457 feet at summit, 5 Miles, 4.5 hrs 40-50 MPH gusty chill winds

Lassen Peak trail is closed for the most part of the year and in summer it's very hot to hike up as there is no shade along the trail. This trail has been on our list for quite sometime and we were looking for a perfect window to open for us. Although the length of the hike is just 5 miles the elevation gain an 40-50 mph chilly winds slowed us down while hiking up. We kind of underestimated the cold and actually weren't fully prepared for the conditions. After reaching the top we usually have small retreat but noone was up to it as we could barely stand to the wind. These not so difficult hiles also make you realize that somethings are not in our control when you prepare and only have to experience on the way...
